I am thinking of rounding out my setup with Logic 7 (I'm running PT LE on a digi 002rack).
I am currently working on my EP which will need to be polished in a pro studio and of course shopped out for mastering. The only times I've had to transfer files into another studio, it's been quite easy with Pro Tools, but if I head the Logic route, what is the usual protocol? I've been told OMF export, but with all the soft syths, plugs etc. disabled once you bounce to minimalist OMF files...what does one do? Do most large studios run logic nowadays? Or do you just bring everything in dry with only basic automation parameters and let the engineer start fresh?

Like Krou said, bounce your tracks before mixing them somewhere else! Any other method (except bringing youown computer with you) is bound to be trouble.
I L7 (which I run, most of the time) there's an excellent "Export all tracks to files"-command which speeds up this process. Just bypass all pluings you don't want to render (eq, compressors, reverb etc.) and hit export - everything is rendered to separate files, pan center, unity gain.

I am not a studio owner but I have worked in some of the bigger studios here in NY. I can say that as far as I know is that they primarily use protools and are beginning to have other software programmes on hand and installed on their 'puters (like logic or digital performer) depending on their client demands. Then you have to deal with the issue of what plugins they have (not everybody has the same thing) and if there is a rental charge just to use them! You pretty much have to make a few phone calls to the studios to see what they have (ask if they have the digitranslator option installed) and see if it suits you. Most of the time if they do not have logic, DP or whatever, they get away with importing the audio files(like .aif, .wav, SDII) and hope that the audio lines up without any problems.
