I can't mix without mine...its a big PITA...especially when I slide the mixer from left to right.

Everythings a blur...thank god for being able to assign different colours to individual tracks or I'd be stuffed.

And the funny thing is, my monitor is a 42 inch LED tv mounted to the wall at head height a foot in front of me...

I have an eye appointment coming up next week anyway... I'm looking forward to it, as my insurance covers the exam and a new pair of specs with a only a $10 co-pay.
My current prescription is pretty old; ( 4 years old now) and truthfully, I'm not sure I could even pass the eye exam part of renewing my driver's license this May with my current glasses...
But for the moment, at least I can see better than not having them at all. ;)

Cool! Thanks for posting this.

Would it be good to be able to put these on our gear for security reasons. Is there something like that Dave? Of course it would have to be able to track globally or at least further than this.
Would that ever make me feel safe(er)

Yeah Chris, I don't own or use any of these things, but I do try to keep up on technology on the horizon as part of my job. I remember seeing the Tile quite a while ago when they were doing a Kickstarter campaign for it. I'm sure there are many others that are making it to market.

There are units I've seen that are GPS based instead of bluetooth, but the cost goes up significantly. The equipment is more expensive right out of the gate, and they would need some sort of subscription to a secure network. Plus with the ones I've seen so far, the GPS device is a lot bulkier and needs charged daily. That would obviously be completely impractical for tagging and tracking stolen gear. There are supposed to be some that are little adhesive stickers, but some of what you read about is still vaporware that is a cool concept, but does not yet exist.

There are numerous bluetooth units like the one I linked to and they're all going to have range limitations. The upside (or down-side depending on your POV) to the little bluetooth units like Tile and MyBit types would be they are sealed up with a long life battery that doesn't need charging, but after 12-18 months you need to buy a while new device. The battery cannot be replaced because the device is sealed up watertight. At $25-$30 each(US), it's still not horribly expensive. You can buy some of them in 4-packs on Amazon and get the price well under $20, and you would expect as the technology and manufacturing process improves to cost and size will both get smaller.

The Tile has a nice feature for people who frequently lose their keys, phone, luggage, etc. As you would expect, you can use your phone to make the keyring sound an alarm, the unique feature is, maybe you have your keys in hand and can't find your phone… If you press the Tile on any of your keyring, your phone will play a loud ringtone (even if you had the phone on vibrate only).

Some of the bluetooth trackers will 'crowd locate' Grandpa Thompson if he wanders out of your bluetooth range, and into the range of someone in the Wal-Mart pudding aisle who uses the same service. Then, as I understand it, you'll get a notification on your phone with a location. And for the sake of your privacy/security and theirs, that all happens without the other user(s) knowing the tracker on your valuable item, (or guitar player/drummer/engineer/producer) pinged their device. In a bigger city where there could potentially be more users, that might be useful. In a small town / rural area like mine, it's a numbers game, so the 'crowd' would be very small to non-existent. So we'd just have to find Donny the old-fashioned way and stake out the liquor store, or put a telecaster or shiny microphone in a box trap.

Hell guys, I'm not sure I'll even live that long... so I'm okay with cheap and sealed.
