I am currently using an Alesis SR-16 to do my drum tracks with, not being a drummer I find it hard to create my own Drum Loops and fills so pretty much just use the presets and process the Bass and Snare drum seperatley in pro tools.

I am currently looking at other tools to create drum tracks with, mainly FXpansions BFD (I have the demo version I am trying out at the mo) and Re-Drum although I only have Reason Adapted at the moment and am possibly looking at buying Reason 3 and Reason Drum Kits 2.0.

Does anyone have any advice or experience with using the above products to create their drum tracks with? I mainly write rock music so need something with a live feel.

How do you create your drum tracks? Any advice appreciated!

It's good to have good sounds but it's better to have good beats. There are lots of drum plug-ins out there BFD, DFH, etc. They all have some pretty good sounds and they also come with some ready made beats or rhythms that are pretty good. It's sort of like having a drum machine controlling a real drummer.

If you aren't good at creating drum beats, find the product that has the selection of sounds you like best then you can download the beats/rhythms/grooves you wan't. Check out http://www.groovemonkee.com for various types/genres of midi based drum beats.
