compressors for guitar and drum tracks
Hey I'm pretty new to this and i've just started using some compressors on some guitar and drum tracks i've recorded I don't know where to start. Please help! I usually just set the threshold low and turn and turn up the input til i hear it working. Btw, if I want to limit the kick drum i just set the ratio above 10:1? I heard that somewhere. I really need to know how to use these things.

Roomy drum tracks
I have some really roomy drum tracks that I am unfortunately stuck with.
I was wondering what I could do in the DAW to remedy this?
I canned the room mic, brought the OHs down a bit, chopped the tom tracks to eliminate bleed, and tried some compression - Still no luck.
Editing Midi Drum Tracks
Hey guys,
I am planning to record a drummer playing an electric drum kit through Midi and then use VST effects to enhance the sound.
I am just wondering it is possible to use VST effects on Midi tracks... or are VST effect only a feature for audio?
User friendly Drum tracks?
I know how difficult it can be to get drum tracks down. Micing is a pain, MIDI is a pain, loops don't get you what you want.
I had the same problem. All the new stuff, DFH and the like still aren't intuitive enough for even my wide and technical ability.
But not anymore!
Recording multiple drum tracks
When recording multiple tracks for a drum kit, is it better to set up each individual track so that the full kit sounds good prior to recording or is it better to have each track at it's full potential then mix it to how you would like it to sound after recording?
