ok so here is the deal
ive got these equipment running into my asio drives
Line pod xt live - has its own asio drive
Mbox 2 - same thing
M-audio keyboard - interlinks with the podxt drive
Ok so this setup works for me...
Duplex Asio drive:
I can hear the Midi drumkits, i can record the pod xt and listen to everything
but when i try to connect the mbox to record vocals i can record them yes, but i cant hear the vocal tracks, i cant hear any audio track for that matter.
So i have to switch back to the duplex drive to hear what i recorded.
So i cant really record the vocals with any audio tracks to hear
cant i run the mbox and the duplex drive at the same time?
this is f**ked up
That setup sounds messed up. This is the way I would do it: MID
That setup sounds messed up. This is the way I would do it:
MIDI:
Midi out from Mbox to Pod XT Midi in/Midi Out from Pod XT back to Mbox/ Midi thru from Pod XT to Keys
Audio:
Audio out from Pod XT to Mbox line in 1 and 2 into ProTools.
If need be send the line outs from the keyboard into Mbox line in 3 and 4.
Monitors from line 1 and 2 out of the Mbox.
If you insist on using Cubase, you can only use one ASIO Driver at a time. When you switch from the Pod XT to the Mbox, you need to move your monitor lines over to the Mbox. That's how ASIO Works. It's a routing system. When you switch over to the Mbox, all audio functions move over to the Mbox. Input and output.
That being said, if you set it up properly as I described above you should be able to use all of the functions of all of your gear straight through one interface.
The Mbox A/D converters should be the better choice.
