The Project Mix has twice as many mic pres (8, compared the 4 on the 003). To me, that'd make it more worthwhile if I was looking for something on the more affordable side and needed to track drums or something that required more than four mic pres to be used simultaneously.

That's my quick answer, I don't have a ton of time as I'm also trying to conquer the world via video games.

For what it's worth, I use a 002 (the mixer version) and love it.
