Love these new digital mic bodies. These are very exciting times we live in.

Michael, from what I have heard that's certainly not going backwards. While a valve is flavouring the amplification of the capsule signal, I am dying to hear what the capsule sounds like unaffected by an amplification stage, as these digital stages allow. It may be a complete anticlimax of course, and we will all hanker for valves again, but I want to hear it first. :)

Just checking but only the CMD2U is digital - the CMR is just a miniaturised and modified replacement analog CMC stage intended to allow most capsules to work with radio mic transmitters using low voltage power.
As for the CMD2U, I'm allegedly getting a pair to try out on a recording before Christmas but I'm not banking on it.

I'm going the other way on the technology... just got a pair of M222's. :D But agree this is an exciting development.
Will try to do a comparison recording (M222 vs. CMC5), probably choral, when a suitable opportunity presents itself in the coming month or two and post the results.
