I have 3 options on hooking up my Yamaha clavinova to my computer for a midi signal.
option 1: midi cables to m-audio 2626
option 2: usb cable from piano to computer
option 3: midi to Yamaha UX-16 to computer (usb out of UX-16)
What would be fastest, best way to run the cables. Keep in mind that my computer is approx 20-25ft from the piano, so if I ran just the usb (the clavinova actually has usb out for midi signal) I would have to use a usb repeater, what might slow down the signal? The profire 2626 is inbetween the computer and the piano, so it would be the shortest run.
Please and thank you,
Any of those three would work and you would not notice any MIDI
Any of those three would work and you would not notice any MIDI speed difference (delays) between them. However, extending USB can be problematic. If it's only 25 feet, I would just run high-quality MIDI cables the full distance.
