I am the head Pro Tools engineer at a studio with a Trident Vector 432. I think this console has a pretty nice sound. Part of my deal is I get to use it whenever it's not booked. Now the studio is getting pretty busy and I need a place to do my moonlighting at! I had a few questions about some gear I need to buy:
1: what would be a good price on a used [but clean] Trident 24?
has anyone used these? how do they sound?
Pretty much I need a mixer with 24 channels, 4 buses, at least 2 auxes, I'd like meters, and nice pre's for under $10k ...
I don't want a Mackie [I don't like them for anything other than hip hop.]
older/cheap AMEK s seem like they are really noisey.
Neve BCM20's are REALLY expensive :-)

You could try and get hold of an old EMI TG desk. Very hard to find, but VERY in-demand. We've got one here in Studio 2 as well as a 64-channel SSL G+, and a lot of people use the old TG just for the preamps and dynamics.
