this is a mic from the 70s...looks nearly identical to the RE16, but slightly squared off on the top of the grille. I inherited one of these mics...in my minimal testing I've found it sounds great on guitar amp for an aggressive, focused syd barrett type sound. wasn't thrilled on voice.
does anybody love these for certain applications? like would it sound good on a snare drum?
II.
while we're here: what do people like SM58s on in a recording studio? i think they may sound a bit different from 57s.
III. (one more)
does anyone like studio projects B1 on drum overheads? can you point me to sound clips? would I be able to do a 4 mic thing with 2 B1s, a kick mic, and a snare mic, or would I need tom mics?
thanks
1. I absolutely love ALL of the RE series...its more of a "swoo

I absolutely love ALL of the RE series...its more of a "swooner" style mic than a screamer, though...contact me email if you want to get rid of it.
Try it on baritone males that actually sing instead of screaming or (c)rapping....
2. 57s and 58s are slightly different in voicing...each as valid as the other in any situation.
3. No clue...never heard any Studio Projects mics....
