Maybe i'm wrong but i cant acheive a good sound in Garageband. Even using the exactly same instruments, in Logic it sounds way better.

I use GB as a starting point, final processing and mixing is done in Logic.

I suspect you hear the 24bit difference with the effects.

is it mean GB2 is only can export to 16bit??

after export to a wav file...when import to cubase or logic it will convert to 24bit..but it still a 16bit quality source right??

Audio will be 16bit, but the virtual instruments will play back, and record at 24bit resolution.

I don't have a clue what SX will do when you bring 16bit files into a 24bit session, but Logic will convert on the fly.

Hmm. 16 or 24?

For most uses 16 is plenty enough, 24 is not really that big step upwards as you might expect. So if you hear a large difference, large enough to hear on a home studio setup of speakers, the difference is not in 16 to 24 bits, but something else.

To qualify my statement, I do mostly onsite acoustic recordings, and I have on a few occasions by mistake recorded at 16 instead of 24 bits. The difference is mostly in the noise floor, 16 bit is noisier than 24. There is a, very, very slight difference in the sound, but nothing that a normal person will hear unless pointed out to him specifically. Even when listening in headphones such as Sennheiser HD600.

I have a related question:

I'm using iDrum to create drum tracks from .waw files (most of which are recorded in 24bit), which I then drag into GB1. Since I know that GB1 is 16bit, I'm wondering what happens to the drum sounds.

I've read somewhere that to avoid digital jitter, you have to 'dither down' when converting sample rates. Does GB do this, or are the sounds somehow converted more harshly?
