Here's some more links to add to the post:
The Neuman Microphone Book that contains a good general discussion of microphones; [[url=http://[/URL]="https://www.Neumann…"]Neuman Microphone Book[/]="https://www.Neumann…"]Neuman Microphone Book[/] BTW while on the Neuman Microphone site there are several things like this that do not show up on the NeumanUSA site. The Pinboard is good reading and worthy of posting questions on also.
Another good info spot on mics is DPA's Microphone University. I was unable to post a direct link but you can get there by clicking the sidebar menu from here: DPA Microphones
Also if you are into using a computer for recording work and its PC the RME German site has several good writeups on their Tech Info page: RME Tech Info Page . One part in particular that worked well for me was their reference PC that I used as a model when I built my PC last year. It's available readybuilt in Germany but not the USA. I've not had a hardware associtated problem that I know of with this system: RME Reference PC
Thought after these links did me so much good I'd share them here like I have on other board's threads. Even if there products are not of interest to you they are all still worthwhile reading.

I agree and have used this link to research many things from building your own cables to compression and micing technique.
I've also used the list of audio forums to check out.
