Hi,
does anybody have experience with a Cad maxcom Mixer? I'm looking at a 48 channel one to use with Pro Tools. I've heard a couple of good things but I can't find a lot of info on the net.
Thanks

I have a 64ch one with the MegaMix automation.
Important stuff; it should have the Master module II,the first version was pretty limited.
Not as maintenance heavy as olde consoler, but still needs some care, now and then...
Eq is limited, but useful.....
The micpre`s are GREAT!!!!! And actually, the pre`s in the SSL 9000J is based on the Maxcon pre....
It`s has good headroom, this is not a Mackie!
You`ll get good service from Dennis at Qcables, he worked with CAD, when they made these consoles.
This console is often called a mini-SSL, I could believe that.Amund
The SSL mic pre is not modeled on the CAD console. I don't know who told you that. I used to know the guy who designed that console. He came through Oklahoma, trying to get some work at Ford Audio Video Systems, the largest sound contractor in the midwest. He banged the wife of the president at CAD (he said), so he had to go. He still had all of the drawings, design books, etc. It was very interesting. CAD had not ventured into studio mics at that time, but he had given me their attaempt at a Shure SM57 and 58.
The console's servo circuits are very quick and pretty accurate. I don't think that any real SSL user would say the same for their mic pre's.
Look on Soundbroker.com. They ALWAYS have CAD's for sale. With

These consoles do not sound like an SSL. They do not have automation and recall like an SSL, nor do they have the features. But, if you want a goos ounding console for a small project room, and you don't have alot of space, this may be the deal for you.
They`re great! I have a 64ch one with the MegaMix automation.
