Hi everyone, I'm playing round with my violin in Cubase sx 3 and would like to record and multi layer string parts without having to stop and record on a new track each time. Ultimately i want to get an orchestral sounding string arrangement happening. Do you think thats possible with one violin or would i need a few different ones to get a string section sound.
Anyway it would be great if i could stick it on loop but i only seam to be able to get it to play the last recorded track in stacked loop mode and have to drag all the other tracks into new ones to get them to play too. I hope this all makes sense. If any one can help me and/or offer tips then please do.
Thank you.
Double Stops.... Seriously though - yes, you can do this

Seriously though - yes, you can do this, but the effort and the final product would be questionable.
For multiple strings on the same pitch - you can:
work with delays - 5 or 6 more more parts all with minor delays (less than 5 ms each in either direction) would start to provide some chaos and detuning. (Though likely some possible phasing issues with certain notes - not up to doing the math in my head right now.)
Of course, a little reverb would do fine as would some type of elastic audio where you could detune each one by a few cents.
In general though, I think you would be far more pleased by simply playing the parts a few times. Even 2 or 3 will give you better results with the above.
