just curious how many maximum tracks i can record with a powermac g5, using either a dp 2.0 or a dp 2.5 with around 3 gigs of ram, i need to record live shows and was wondering if recording 24 simultaneous tracks would bog down the computer? thanks.

Mix Man,
I run PT LE 6.4 on a 800mhz G4 with a little over 1GB of ram and I'm able to use all my available 18 inputs on my 001 with no hiccups whatsoever. Also, all 18 tracks to same internal drive. I know it's not quite 24 tracks, but I've never experienced any bog down other than it taking a second or two before it kicks into/out of record. Anyway, I hope this helps give you an idea.
Also, I'm moving toward putting together a mobile rig, most likely running DP as well. Let us know what works out, as I'd like to hear how your setup works for you.

thanks guys , i appreciate the feedback ,,yea i wont be getting my setup soon as its gonna cost alot, but i just wanted to get a headstart , ill prob go with a powermac g5 dual 2.0 maybe something different by then, but eventually ill want to add another 24i/o and do 48 tracks at once if needed, so hopefully the computer can handle that. but anyway, thanks for the comments , makes me feel better about shelling out big bucks.
Shouldn't be any problem with the right combination of interface
Shouldn't be any problem with the right combination of interface and hard drive.
I've witnessed 18 tracks to a G4/500 using the MOTU 2408, worked flawlessly.
