Hey guys. right now I'm running a really awful PC.

1.8 ghz Athlon
Windows XP Home
VIA Chipset
512 RAM

I run Cubase SX2 and my Tascam FW1884. I've been wanting to get a new computer and thought the Mini Mac was tempting.

Do you think it would be decent?

I would stay clear of the mac mini for serious audio work. Plus, once you put a decent amount of memory in the damn thing, it costs almost as much as an iMac. (A much better option)

Understand where Apple is coming from with the MacMini. they pull you in by looking at one, then make you realize its extremely underpowered. THEN, by the time you get done adding monitors, keyboards, mice, memory, wireless etc, you are well into the $1000 range, so why not just buy the iMac.

Fine for the kids checking out the Disney websites and such, maybe checking some emails, but the equivelant power of @ a G4 manufactured about 4 years ago.

Memory upgrades run about $160, and a FW drive can be used. In addition, a friend of mine runs a 800 G4 and uses DP and Finale, so it should be at least as strong. HD upgrade about $160.
