Hi ! I am pretty much a newbie, I basicaly record on my pc( dell dimension desktop) using cakewalk music creator 2. I use the session drummer along with my guitat tracks. my question instead of using the cakewalk software mixer,is it possible to use an external mixer to control the software or would it be better to use acontrol surface(Behringer bca-2000) any advice on please, I prefer the knobs, switches and sliders over the point and click of the mouse. Thank you Rob

I don't mean to contradict jahme here, but what you're describing is a control surface, not a mixer. If you want to patch your instruments through a board, great, get a mixer (e.g., Mackie Onyx). But if you want to control the Cakewalk software mixer via hardware and lose the mouse, you'll need a control surface (Mackie Control Universal, Tascam US-428, or the like).
