Have any of you ever tested the difference between MP3 sample rates?

Is 320kbit overkill to the human ears?

I have one song I want to send out & want it to sound as good as possible.

Half the people here hate mp3, and even I can tell the difference between a badly encoded 160 and a WAV.
I don't have any 320kbps files, I don't have a great listening chain, and if it was up to me, I'd settle for 160 and that's more than enough.

Some boffins approximate that 32kbps is sufficient per channel for Voice data, but you need 64kbps per channel for music.

(LAME makes the second comment an understatement).
