Hi out there i have just bought a new set up and need to ask you guys a question can i mix normal ata hdd's with the new sata hdd's ? my setup is a pentium 4,3ghz with a asrock p4v88 motherbaord probably not the best board but this is how it came standard i only have a soundblaster live platinum with breakout box but I'm just starting and my budget is low is this a good setup for making music :-? would be happy for any comments be gentle guys just starting out thanks

Yes you can and your operating system will determine how many you can support. With XP or 2K you can have 6 devices (2 SATA and 4 IDE) with 98 or ME only 4 devices are supported. The reason for this is because in order to add an SATA device to 98/ME you must disable an IDE channel. I'm assuming your using XP as you said it's a new PC so you should have no problems.
