Hello, and sorry for such an abstract question, but:
if you had experience with running SONAR and/or
Cakewalk 9.03 on laptop for live and recording
sessions, could you please let me know:
1. is there a "perfect" laptop from major manufacturers like
Sony (vaio) or Toshiba (satellite) that works flawlessly
with SONAR/CW?
2. have you had experience running SONAR/CW with
Digigram's VXPocket v2 audio card? if so, please share your opinion.
3. how would you compare VXPocket v2 with RME hammerfalls?
i sincerely appreciate any input on these.
s.

head on down to Revere beach for me and get me a Kelly's Roast Beef with those cholesterol coated onion rings and I'll be your best friend for life...ha ha ha ha...god damn I miss that food...that's the one thing I miss about Boston was the countless number of amazingly greasy great food places!!!
Supreme's Pizza on Mass ave right by the Symphony....
ahh...ok, reminiscing is over..
I've worked on Dell laptops before and they are very very nice...very well thought out.
Sony Vaio's are supposed to be one of the best out there but a little more pricey than a Dell..plus they have a really cool design!
(if the design itself doesn't sell ya!! lol)
Soon one of these days I'll actually pick up a laptop as well....god knows why but I will!!

DELL!!!
Sony is cool looking... But I gotta stick w/ dell.
Forget toshiba!
Get a dell with the gold service... You call w/ a prob. they will be at your house or where ever you are in the entire world in 24 hrs! (for 3 Yrs) ;)
I spilled milk on my keyboard and hosed the whole thing, and they braved a blizzard to be there the next day to replace everything that was affected.
Dell will not be beat on service. And a laptop is NOT something you want to have to work on yourself or get fixed out of warranty.

I've just never been a fan of their laptops. Sorry...
Even though laptops are cheap these days, it's still a chunck'o change, and if your gonna spend the money get the best you can... I personally like the dell, but sony is the only other one I would consider. Mainly because it utilizes Sony's memory stick, and it's pretty cool to be able to be able to use the same media between camera, mp3 player and laptop. Plus they are very cool looking and tiny! But if you want ass stomping power and the best service in a laptop, go Dell!
DigiGram VX Pocket...for PC...that's a no no...those cards suck
DigiGram VX Pocket...for PC...that's a no no...those cards suck as far as drivers go..especially on a PC..plus those cards are known to crap out pretty quickly...RME is the best way to go..
plus Sonar uses WDM drivers so you need to make sure the card supports that...which RME does.
Laptop...Dell Dimension series are great..
Sony Vaio's are right there as well...
