I'm a Mac guru, heheh. Don't know much about pc's.
The machine isn't mine. I have to configure it by tomorrow for a client of mine. I'm not near it right now so i can't try it now. It looks like an Amd with A-open Via board.
I did disable the screensaver. Could this problem be related to powersaving functions in XP?

is anything else open? could something be leaking ram possibly? very strange that it would work fine and then have problems when idle (although that could be a hint that it IS a powersaving or background task issue such as maintenance scheduling... as it would wait for inactivity to kick in...).

Powersaving settings do not solve it.
It's driving me nuts.
How is it possible that the latency increases in time?
After 10 minutes of working the latency is increasing.
Buffersettings are 128.
After 30 minutes the latency is increased to 0.5 sec!
When Reason is relaunched all is well for 5 minutes.
What a pain.

I turned hybernation mode off like you said in the faq.
Doesn't make a difference. I let it sit there for 3 hours.
Latency is about 2 seconds! It progresses in time.
In the 20 years of computering i never encountered such a strange thing.
