Hey all, If I was to buy a DigiMax FS 8 Channel Mic pre, and wanted to record a bass straight into it, would I need to go through a DI first or can I just plug the bass into one of the DigiMax's Inputs on the back.

DI box is an electronic device that connects a high impedance (hiZ) line level signal that uses an unbalanced cable with a 1/4" phone plug to a low impedance mic level input that uses a balanced cable and XLR connector.
If the digimax doesnt have a hiZ input then yes plug Bass-->DI-->Balanced input of digimax
