It will block any noise from behind the mic but you're still going to get some reflection from behind you. It'll help but how much, I couldn't tell you. For the price though you could probably buy a small room acoustic treatment package. That's your call.

My studio-owning friend has one and swears by it as his room is also untreated...I'm in the market for something similar and was considering buying an old floor tom (drum), removing the hardware and cutting it down the middle on a bandsaw to create two halves.
I then planned to stick inside a piece of rubber mat and some acoustic foam over that - I reckon it could work and be very cheap but the wooden drumshell may resonate so it's an untested idea...
Also, have you (or anyone else) seen these:
They are a Ch*nese alternative which are selling here in the UK for half the price of the SE filter...anyone tried one...?
Picked up the reflection filter. I got the big one for 200$ new.
Picked up the reflection filter. I got the big one for 200$ new. works well. FYI if anyone is in the Wash. DC area and looking for gear check out Washington Music Center. It has the best prices you will ever see. I have priced many ideams there and you will not be able to beat. i.e. sweetwater price on a AT3035 is 200. thers is 149$.
I've been looking into purchasing one the SE filter but I've see
I've been looking into purchasing one the SE filter but I've seen so many people selling them for half of what they cost on ebay it makes you wonder. I skipped out on the SE and picked up an inexpensive AE-F filter from these guys [[url=http://[/URL]="http://www.soundkit…"]AE-F reflection filter[/]="http://www.soundkit…"]AE-F reflection filter[/]. I never had an SE to compare but so far it sounds damn good. So there are some good alternates out there.
