SO you seem to be more versed in production work than any one of us here.
Im searching for some "boomsets" for a show Im going to record VO, then post myself. It consists of 3 "Sportscasters" 1 male 2 females.
They won't be on camera, since its an english redub, the on camera actors do have boomsets, so using them would be a cool thing.
When I did the pilot, I used Sennheiser HMD25s, since Ive noticed them being used in NASCAR broadcasts, and liked the sound.
Herein is my issue, the male actor is very active, and loud, but consistent.
He sounds great!
The 2 female actresses are very subdued, and cranking the preamp to 60 gets me a fairly decent level, but Im way above the sweet spot, and sounds like cr@p.
What other boomsets are popular in the production world? (For the female gender)
Most Ive looked at are upper limited to 12 or 13KhZ, the Senns are up to 16K, which is where I usually start to cut off my dialog anyway.

I'm a fan of the DPA headset mics personally... The cardiod version (the 4088, I believe) requires a bit more finesse in positioning, but has a very natural sound and will work in a noisy environment well... The omni has a bit more forgiving sound, but in a noisy environment will offer less isolation.
Compared to the E6, it has a much mellower sound. the E6 is also very usable, but given a choice, I prefer DPA.

Maybe a little gaffer's tape to hold the Countryman mic to the headphones!!!
The DPA 4088 attached to the Ultrasone headphone, I hear is awesome, but at $750 a piece?? Ouch

I'm really sorry TVPostSound, I haven't done many sporting events and am really not sure what to recommend for your female anchors? I think some of the newer, more discreet ear worn miniature condenser microphones that hug the cheek, like the Shure and DPA's sound amazingly good from what I've noticed in the recent past? Good luck with those ladies and I hope you make them sound informed, authoritative and sexy?
