Wrong mic really. Whatever processing it does is better done in the edit, if, and only if it needs it. Its a bodge, and that mic is normally used for close in work. The headphone output is designed for confidence monitoring, not quality. Sure, headphone out can be fed with care on the levels to a line in, but its a very bodgey way to do it. I think the 5v power may be switchable in the camera menu, but the cameras i have that have this, like mac computers, have it permanently on. I would just try it and see. You'll probably find its hissy enough before you start. However, i dont know what you are hoping to do, so if you like the sound, its fine. I think to be fair, you might be the first person ever to want to use a usb mic in this way?
