Hi guys, I'm a newbie to the forums and also to sound recording/engineering. Basically, I'm looking to start building up some equipment now to eventually after university start a studio (4 and a half years approx). The two options to study in uni atm are law or digital recording (or something with a similar title, it's basically just recording with pro tools etc).
At the moment I've just got a family pc, but it's good like, but I'd probably need to install a lot.
If anyone could help me with pricing and recommendations then that'd be great

Current budget-£30 a week (around $45)
Looking to record vocals, electric guitars, bass guitars and drums (then maybe the occasional acoustic guitar and piano)
VIA AC'97 Enhanced Audio (WAVE) is what appears to be my sound card
I'm gonna need mikes, software, and all the other hardware (eg mixing desk etc)...and some books about using the software cause I have no clue about it

If anyone can offer me any help or advice then that'd be wicked, and if there's anything I've missed out please tell me
