The Studio Business Book by Jim Mandell. I found a copy at Barnes and Noble but you can get it at amazon.com - very helpful. Has actual sample business plans in there from existing studios. Goes in depth about every aspect of starting a studio business - from home/project to full blown commercial size. Good source of information (especially on zoning and tax codes)

I don't see how information on the nation's average income for studios would be of any use for writing a studio plan. Wouldn't it be much more useful to know what the average is in your market area? Also, averages are not always the best information to base decisions on. An average is going to include information from studios whose focus may be different than yours.

EricK, the only reason I'm putting the national avearge in my plan is because my venture capitalist asking for it.

WHY? I don't know. They are still my investors and I am giving them what they need.
