Hey RO'ers, I was wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions on the best way to trigger midid instruments using a midi keyboard as a controller? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

i have a multi - midi setup, all hooked up to logic, my main controller is a semi-weighted keyboard, but i also use the step sequencer of my korgs EA-1 and ER-1 and the pads of my SU10 and MPC sometimes the KAOSS Pad as well, i basically can use whatever suits best and asign the soundsource from whatever to it...

but the keyboard rules. (roland makes good stuff if you are a keyboard player, they have a very nice feel, just my 2two cents)

If you have one midi controller and multiple midi instruments that you want to control at the same time, it can be done but you are limited to what you can do.

For example, lets say you want to play bass off of an MS2000 and a pad off of your Wavestation but you want to use your controller. Well, you can set up a split program on the controller. Put the split somewhere in the middle of the keyboard. On the low half of the keyboard set it to transmit on a specific MIDI channel that is set up on your Virus to receive. On the High half, set that to transmit a channel that the Wavestation is set to receive.

VOILA.

If the controller can be set up with multiple zones you should be able to set each zone to a MIDI channel and transmit data to multiple devices.
