I am interested in these 2 different options for my FX. I feel like I am starting to hear some CPU sputtering in my mixes...its very slight but annoying none the less. Which are the best and will the cheaper models have the same processing power as the mor expensive models?

I have a UAD-1, don't have a PowerCore. All I can say is that I absolutely love my UAD-1. The PowerCore never appealed to me. The LA-2A, 1176's, Pultec, etc, etc, on the UAD-1 card's are absolutely rockin'. I think the reverb's are quite decent as well.

I can't imagine mixing without the UAD-1. If I were to look at adding either another UAD-1 or a PowerCore, I don't think I would even consider a PowerCore, I would get another UAD-1!

I have 2 UAD cards and they are faboulous. I actually love the reverbs on these cards more than my Waves reverb plug (IR-1 excluded). The only plus with the TC is that you can buy 3rd party plugs to work off of the card or whatever TC acceleration device you choose. But in terms of out of the box , useable plugs - UAD all the way!! I would go for the Ultra Pak , it's worth the extra $$.

You can always add plugs without buying another card - but - the cost will be higher in the end. If you can't afford the Ultra Pak right away I would either wait or go to American Musical Supply . com as they have a 90 day payment plan on that particular card. Trust me you are going to want and use the other plugs. Good luck!

The guitar sim is an absolute waste of time, I don't even know why they bother including it - but I disagree on the verbs. They are extremely flexible with lots of options and they sound great once you spend the time to learn to work all of the features. Their new plate verb sounds outstanding. My UAD reverbs are my favourite non-convolution based reverb plugs which was a bonus considering I bought it mainly for the compressor simulations and the Pultec sim. Good Luck!
