My motherboard died this week with a series of blown and leaking caps so it’s time to replace it. As I was never that impressed with the performance of the processor (P4 2400MHz) I'm thinking about going for a more radical upgrade to try and increase my CPU performance as I use a lot of VSTs and was regularly maxing out CPU.

My below upgrade idea is below, I would be massively appreciative if anyone can suggest any possible conflicts that might occur between the new CPU / board and soundcard that I should look out for, or offer any other suggestions :)

I'm planning to add:

Processor:
MD Athlon 64 3800 Socket 939Pin CPU

Mainboard:
ABIT AV8-3rd Eye - ATX - K8T800 Pro
or MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum, nForce3U, 939, Dual DDR400 8xAGP SATA, Raid (which I've heard is better for audio?)

Headsink & fan:
Thermaltake Silent Boost Athlon 3200

... whilst keeping the old RAM (1GB of DDR-333MHz PC2700) and graphics card (dual-head ATI 64mb).

Current OS is Windows XP and the main sequencer I use is Cubase SX2 (soon to be SX3). The soundcard I use is the M-Audio Delta 1010.

Any suggestions or pointing out possible conflicts that may occur would be much appreciated :)
