So I was doing last minute desperate cleaning for imminent inlaws arrival. I finished what I had patience for tonight and popped the shhhhhhcotch and happened to flip through and find USMA band and small ensembles giving a Christmas concert. Those tall Audix booms are in prominent use ALL over. They are very discreet in wide shots and if those are the Audix caps on the end then they have a pretty decent quality of sound too. I see Countryman headsets too but the whole visual aspect of mic stands comes up a lot for mobile/location broadcast recording.

I think it worth mentioning that lots of folks come here wondering how to make a career of recording and sound. The DC military bands-all five-and both Academy bands have full time recording engineers and opportunities to record myriads of different types of music whether symphonic band, orchestra, jazz combo, choirs, steel drums, and whatever specialties that particular band has.
