In my studio I'm using the X73i or Mercury M72 on vocals. The Mercury M72 is a recreation of the vintage Telefunken V72. A modified version of the "V72" amplifiers were used in the REDD.37 recording consoles, this was one of the consoles used at Abbey Road. Both the X73i and M72 have a rich midrange, not harsh or aggressive which makes them highly useful for vocals, this is important since most of the frequency content of the human voice is in the midrange.
