I was wondering which was the best way to bounce a mix on Logic 8, real- time or offline. Which one of these will best preserve the sound of the mix.

Thanks

I posed this same question to the experts over at the Logic Forum, and the general consensus was that there is no real reason to use realtime unless you A. like to monitor things as it bounces or B. you use outboard effects/processors during bounce. Otherwise Offline is much quicker and has no quality drawbacks.

C. That was a huge run on sentence, no wonder why I failed english in high school...

And that's precisely why I'm not wild over ProTools since, it only runs in real-time. I mean, isn't this precisely the reason to have a faster computer? Drive-through rendering? I'm not going to sit around if the line is too long.

Would you have the choice between constipation or speed? What would you choose?

Excuse me while I run to the.........

"Drive-through rendering?"

I doubt I'll ever use Pro Tools - I mean, the minister talks for up to 20 minutes in his sermons. I'm looking forward (not) to be making CDs of the service immediately following it finishing and with PT I can only imagine it taking precisely 1 hour.

My humble dual core machine eats up the 2-channels of waveform + basic comp/EQ in about 40 seconds. 15 minutes? Might as well run a Pentium 3 laptop and a tape deck.
