Hi everyone, just ordered all my new gear that I've been saving up for a long time.
For the past 6 years I've just been using two PreSonus Firepods.
I now just ordered an Apogee Symphony system, and three Daking Mic Pre IV's, and a handful of new mics.

So a completely new front end..

Just wondering what all you pro's think of the new setup and what you also think the sonic differences are that I can be anticipating, in comparison to the PreSonus pre's and conversion?

I'm hardly a pro but IMHO, you should be hearing a world of difference. Hopefully you have monitors that can take advantage of the finer detail. Of course in the end it's all up to you to get the best out of it. Apogee have a very good reputation though, I know some people that aren't partial to their A/D conversion. I think at some point it just becomes audiophilia. One thing that should stand out like a sore thumb is the difference in latency. I'll have to assume you went with a Thunderbolt interface. The mic pres will probably be a huge improvement over the XMax pres. Just no comparison really.

Yes, that's a good range of mics. What I would expect just from the microphone point of view is that with your new acquisitions you could make good recordings from a wider range of sources.

However, as hueseph indicated, it's the change of pre-amps and acquisition unit that should make the big difference.
