Opus, awhile back, you posted this:

"so far so good except fir jetoney's machine is acting up...keeps rebooting itself? ...we're troubleshooting it right now...we'll let you know"

I kept reading that thread, to see if you ever fixed the problem. I was wondering, because if you remember, I am having a similar problem.
I was thinking about putting together a machine like yours, and stop trying to fix mine, but I would hate to put it together, and have the same problem, and not know how to fix it.
So if you don't mind, can you please update me on jetoney's machine?

Ahhh..yes!! Poor Jetoney! Only his machine is doing this at the present moment..basically he has swapped everything but the chip at this point and still the machine reboots itself when trying to load windows..this is what we are thinking the issue may be...
His P4 chip was made in Costa Rica where both of mine were made in Malaysia...seems that everyone over at OverClockers is chasing down the Malaysia chips for that reason! They work like a charm.
Jetoney has tried everything possible as well..take a look at his post Calling All Hardware and Software Guru's....
Also you are right...his problem is scattered about these threads..I should organize them all and put them into one thread...
In fact I should do a database of all the important threads and compile them into a FAQ for everyone to research! There's soooooo much info on these friggen threads!!
We are waiting on Jetoney to tell us whether swapping out his mainboard did the trick or not!
Jetoney?!!! Any answers for us yet?

Sorry guys,
I have been swamped trying to get this going and dealing with life in general. I have three words
for you : Malaysia! Malaysia! Malaysia! .
After changing everything in this thing possible(other than the power supply, which I know rocks),
I have concluded that this is a chip thang . I should have done my research a little better. I am actually pissed at myself for not doing that. I do have it working, it is overclocked ,but, the voltage is now at 1.62 and most guys can safely pull this off at 1.50.. It actually has rebooted
twice , even at this setting. It looks like I may have to get another chip, or find a solution with this one. Good Luck!!

Why is it neccessary? Just because!! Would you rather spend 375 dollars or 150 and get the same speed? Hmm? I know I would want to save money! Well, I'm also Jewish so I love saving money!! lmao!!
No, that is not the main issue..if set at the default he was still getting the same issue as well!! So we are in search of a Malaysian chip for him!!

Opus and Gang,

As you know, I ordered my P4 1.6a chip a week ago. Then ya'll started talking about the differece between the malaysian and costa rican chips. Well the damn thing came and it's a CR chip. $160 bucks out and i feel like I'm back at square one! And I don't even have it installed yet!! Should I go ahead and try working with it? Should I resell it and try to find a M chip? (any buyers?) Confused and don't know what to do at this point. The Mobo is the Asus P4B266-C w/aud, w/USB 2.0, w/Lan. Chipset is the 845D.
