Hey guys, I have been recording in fruity loops and using guitar rig to model. So far I really like it, it's definitely easy and I can play in my dorm and get a cool sound. But what types of changes do you usually have to make to get yours to sit in the mix? Or do they tend to sit well as they are? How many tracks do you typically use for a heavily distorted chorus? Thanks, I think it's in the right section...

Thanks guitarfreak, yeah what I have been using has seemed a little muddy. I asked this because I'm not sure what guitar is 'supposed' to sound like. I'm redoing a lot of old songs and making new ones and I like how the DI thing is compared to my crappy micing technique from before.

Guitar Rig is a good plugin but I don't think the distortions have very many useable settings which are convincing, definately miking up a cab gives a much better result for most distortion/overdrive needs. GR is better for clean sounds or very processed heavy modulated sounds.

Usually only what they need. I like to high pass out the lows that just muddy things anyway. And I low pass out the highs that sound annoying. Somewhere between 8k to 12k depending on how I want the result to sound. Sometimes if I am feeling particularly metal I will take off a chunk of the 300-500 Hz section.
