Me and a friend are looking to record some rapping and singing with our laptops and have no idea where to start. I already have some nice speakers and a PC laptop. Where do I go from here?

You go to your local music store like Guitar Box and start shopping for a nice computer audio interface that includes some bundled software. You need a SHURE SM58 with an additional foam pop filter on top of the metal ball. You'll need a reasonable pair of control room speakers that aren't computer speakers. You'll need a decent sample library. Those aren't cheap either. You'll need to spend about $1000, minimum, just on the rudimentary equipment you'll need alone. Then you'll need to spend some additional money for courses on DVD in how to use whatever software you have obtained. And those courses aren't all that cheap. Then, you'll need to go down to your local mental health care hospital and ask why you ever wanted to do this to begin with.

I had deadly exposure to radio/TV/recording studios when I was just a youngster. And look what happened to me anyhow? Which also proves that no psychotherapy can cure a passion for audio.

Psycho passion therapy was the only thing that worked. Oh, the equipment already worked.
