Windows 10
For folks who still don’t like Windows 8 and want Windows 7 back, I have good news and bad news.
There is a new Windows 10 coming and at first glance it has all the right stuff to please many; but it won’t be here until next summer. This means we are stuck with Microsoft’s Windows 8.1, a feeble attempt to combine traditional desktop and laptop computing with the popular touch tablet.

I guess I don't see the problem with W8 that you guys do. So far, it's been a rock solid platform, at least for me and what I'm doing anyway. I don't use the touchscreen feature, in fact I have the "classic" Windows 7, mouse driven theme on my desktop, but the OS itself has never given me any trouble at all... it's certainly not Vista... LOL

Almost true Chris ! ;)
Windows 2000 was one of the best DAW OS because it was build for enterprises instead of gaming. If my DAW was still compatible, Windows 2000 is what I would use !!

I've been using computers since before Windows was a spark in some devs eye. All I can say is, Windoze, was, and is an over-bloated turd with two many variables of PCs to ever keep up with. Just think what a different world we would be in if IBM had ever learned to actually market OS/2 when they were up against the original windows. There was a great OS with a small footprint and true multi-tasking capability!. In the absence of that, Linux / Unix derivatives including OSX still show how to keep a footprint small and much more stable.
I absolutely agree they do a two version stink less stink rotation :). If you want to build a machine you'll never upgrade or connect to the internet I suppose a PC can, and has been made fairly stable, still don't trust them for my music.
*flame suit on* :D.
Cheers

Windows NT was by far the most stable os I,can remember along with 2000. After w7 there is no,excuse for musicians. In fact w8 is rock, solid if you have the right software. A great deal of music software sucks on mac as well. My 7years old Toshiba laptop runs better with sequoia and prism lyra than my 2 years old iMac with protools. Once I put the sata2 ssd drive it flies. So in,my opinion, get only ssd drives, a quad, core and w8.1 and off you go. My windows systems run 3 months now without a single reboot or crash.

I second that, I loved NT 4.0...
