I bought this unit on Dec 22,2001. It worked well for about 3 wks. Then I started getting "recorder busy" signals, had a hard time burning CDs. Now it is in the shop-possibly with a bad hard drive. Once I learned how to navigate the unit I really enjoyed it. The sound quality is great. Yamaha wanted me to ship this thing to California for repair(I decided to have the local guys do this simple repair)with at least a 4-6wk wait. I initially wondered if there was a problem when the hard drive sounded a bit too loud at times but I thought that might be normal...
I was wondering if anyone else is having problems with this new unit. The worst part is I have no toy right now...I really had fun and I hope this can be resolved.

Sorry to hear about your problem with your 2816. A suggestion? In the future, I'd recommend you simply send the drive itself if it proves to be defective. You can easily get a replacement drive, and for many users, multiple HDD's make sense, so buying a second one is a good idea anyway.
