I'm looking for a dynamic mic for vocal recordings. I had acceptable results with an Sennheiser E835 in the past, and good results with an MD 422.
There is, of course, the 58, but it feels a little... ehhmm... standard...
How does it compare to the 422, the beta 57 or the evolution mics?
I know the 57 can be cool, but I want something with an build-in windshield... maybe the Beta 57?
The style I'm aiming at is [clean] pop/rock.

I bought two om2's not long ago, and they are very good.
I've been using them on Vox, snare, and percussion, and I'm as happy if not happier than using an SM57. Different flavour, less harsh in general, a bit more true to the source perhaps? Which isn't always what you want :)
My absolute favorite is an Audix OM7, needs very little to sound

i like the Beta 57 and the Beta 58.... For certain vocals for me its tough to beat a beta 58......especially when the singer insists on hanging on to the mic....

The KMS-105 is also nice, but its a condenser.
