Hello.
Please advice a microphone to record voice for my iPad app.
In future I want to use it to sing in public places. I would rather buy wireless mic.
Price no more than $200

Hi and welcome to Recording.org

Two things. 1) I would not recommend a wireless for recording purposes and 2) even for live use I've never heard a wireless system in that price range that does a very good job.

I'd spend $100 on a wired Shure SM58 (plus whatever XLR mic cable you need) and stick with a mic that's been the industry standard on-stage and in studios for decades. Even with a good stand and cable you're well under-budget and miles ahead in quality over a cheap wireless.

A few options

I found a few options that might work for you.

Shure SM58 and USB to XLR Adapter

Samson G-Track

Shure PG42USB

MXL USB.006

Mic Mate USB to XLR (this will let you use any mic)

With this last option you could get any mic that you want so that you could also use it for live performance.

Use it live by unplugging the mic mate and using a standard XLR cable into a mixer/PA system or preamp/powered speaker. Not with an iPad app.

All due respect to Apple and iPad users, I highly doubt the iPad will ever be a viable solution for live use. Yes, I understand that a certain company is developing many apps for the iPad including several amp modellers. They have recording for iPad too. MAYBE in the future, they will have iPads powerful enough to be useful in this application. As it is now, these apps are just toys. I don't think they ever meant for them to be taken seriously. The apps are $5 or $10. How is that going to rival a serious sound system?

Thanks for the useless information that doesn't really apply to what is being discussed in the thread. And if you want to 'sound' smart (pun intended), make sure to clarify that it is 'acoustic' energy, not 'sound' energy that is converted into electrical energy by any of a miriad of types of microphone transducers.

If you Google CC's entire post in quotes, you will find the exact same sentence on 1310 other sites - most of them useless "content-spinning" sites with numerous "authors" taking credit for the work.

I'm inclined to believe the source material is from the [[url=http://[/URL]="http://www.soundons…"]1995 Sound on Sound article[/]="http://www.soundons…"]1995 Sound on Sound article[/] written by Paul White. (which explains why it sounds like someone smart)

It appears Mr. White's very thorough, very definitive source article has been butchered no less than 1309 times. And a few of the people, claiming to be the "author", were apparently too lazy to even remove the references to SOS within the article. Many of the rest may have stolen it from someone else who had already stolen it and cut it up to serve their purposes elsewhere.

I'm not sure what purpose it serves regurgitating here, but I'm sure the RO admins will be watching.
