Hello guys,
I'm synthesizing some electronic drum-samples for later use with my VSTi drum-machine. All synthesis is done inside computer with the help of the corresponding software. So, the question is do I need to compress these samples prior to loading them into the drum-machine or is it OK if I'll compress the whole drum-patterns during the mixing. May be it is better to do it in a both ways?
I understand the theory behind compression quite good. And if I would record these samples from some hardware synth or drum-machine I would definitely compress them a little during the recording. But in case of computer generated drums I'm in doubt.
If somebody had such an experience before or just have some thoughts please let me know.

If it is a P-I-T-A to compress during mixdown (don't have enough compressors to go around) do it during the recording stage. Cheers, Doc.
