If I needed to achieve an extremely compressed bass guitar sound, and I only have a Joemeek SC2.2 stereo compressor available - is it possible to run through both channels in series? Can I come out of my mic preamp into the left channel input on the Meek, out of the left channel output, into the right channel input and finally out of the right channel output back to the console? If the 2 channels were totally independent, I wouldn't be worried. But this is one of those stereo units with only one set of controls and the manual says that the 2 channels are not "completely independent." Am I wiring together a deadly feedback loop that will fry everything down line? Anybody done something this stupid before and lived to tell about it?

My understanding of the Joemeek stuff is that it makes an M+S type signal pair out of the L and R inputs. It then uses the M portion to drive the sidechain circuitry and applies the same GR to the both the M and S portions of the signal (separately) and then recombines them to create the L and R again.

By routing the output back into the input you are creating a feedback loop in the sidechain, but not in the audio chain, so the only effect should be some whacky pumping.

Let us know how it sounds!
