Hi all,
Here is the scenario
I have 2 g4 733's right next to each other in a soundproof box. One is a Pro Tools only machine the other I use for runing Session Tools, Apple works and the net tc.
I often find my self burning a CD of a rough mix from the PT only machine, just to import that tune in to I tunes on the other machine and then sending it via Rocket network to a client.
Can I just conect the 2 macks and just get the files I want from the pro tools machince to the other with out having to waste a CD for one rough mix.?
I relly dont want to mess with the settings of the Pro Tools machine too much beccause it runs so well, and I understand there are isuse with Pro Tools and apple talk..
Any sugestions, and helpfull advice would be great
Thanx

It's really simple and relatively fast.

1. Hold down the T key whie booting an OSX machine. It will display a grey screen with a FireWire symbol careening around at random. It will not boot to its own desktop. It is now a giant FireWire hard drive.

2. Boot the second Mac normally while DISCONNECTED from the Firewire cable. (It need not be OSX.)

2. Use a good FireWire cable (not cheap) to connect the first Mac to the second one.

3. The first Mac should pop up as a hard drive on the second Mac's desktop. You may now move files freely between the machines.

This is NOT a way to set up both computers to share CPU power or co-perform applications, etc. It is strictly a way to move stuff from one computer to the other.

 RW

Robert, similar situation here. I have a G4 800 quiclsilver, where I do all the stuff related to PT TDM and and old G3 233. Sometimes I want my assistant to edit at the G3.
As you kindlydescribe, press T, boot the second machne attach a firewire cable. Any other special care at the second machine, in this case a G3?
Any problem if G4 runs uner 9.2 and the G3 at 8.x?
Thanks
