re .ddl

until others chime in I'll suggest checking your allowable files . I'm guessing you need to add .ddl into your extension preferences. Where that is I have no idea but it's usually as simple as that. You could also be excluding anything with a "(dot) . as well. Or, your browser could also not be allowing you to see (dot) extensions on your desktop.

Might be a anti virus problem.

As Chris P says, it may be your anti-virus being over-zealous. dlls are executables, and are treated in the same way as .exe files.

Try turning off the anti-virus for the short time it takes to download the .dll file.

Can I ask... what internet browser are you using?

Have you tried downloading the files using an alternate browser?

Are you getting any kind of error message when you attempt to DL the .dll's?

If so, what does the message say?

Also, are you logged onto your computer as the administrator?

The issue, as I read it is not that the DLL can not be downloaded. It is downloaded as a zip and then it is extracted from the zip file. With that in mind, not every DAW will be able to use every plugin. So while the DLL format seems to be the particular reason the plugin will not load it may be the specific thing that your DAW software is not able to use.

I would look into the difference between the laptop and the PC:
Are the PC and the laptop BOTH using the same DAW software?
Are the PC and the laptop BOTH running the same OS version?

It could be... or as Chris ( @Chris Perra ) and Boswell ( Boswell ) mentioned, it could be your anti-virus program getting picky.
Also, Brien ( @Brien Holcombe ) brought up a good point about the potential differences between the Operating Systems on your two computers.
It could also be a System Registry setting.

It might also be your internet browser, and its particular settings.

So, I'll repeat...

What internet browser are you using when you have difficulty in downloading?

Are you using the same IB on both PC's?

Have you tried downloading the files using an alternate browser? ( Firefox, IE, Google Chrome, Safari, etc.)

Are you getting any kind of error message when you attempt to DL the .dll's?

And if so, what does the message say?

Also, are you logged onto your computer as the administrator?

You might also try clearing your download history, and downloading the files to a different folder as well.

If download is the action of transfering a file from the internet to your computer. Why don't you take a USB memory stick and transfer the file to the second computer

If for you download is in fact the installation process. The guys already covered a lot. Make sure the plug is compatible to your OS and DAW, that a firewall or antivirus is not blocking it and make sure you choose the right location for the files. Most DAW has specific places to search for plugins, if you place it wrong, it won't be detected.

I think he's saying that he's not able to download the dll's, mon ami ... I could be mistaken, but from what I gathered by his post, he's not able to move the dll's to the correct folder because he's not able to DL them to begin with.

Although, you bring up a great workaround - because he's not having any downloading issues with his laptop, he could download them to that computer, then transfer the dll files via stick to the desktop pc, and drag the dll's to their appropriate vst folder on that computer.

It's not going to solve his DL issues on that computer, but it would get him to the place of being able to use those plugs in his DAW on his desktop.

I had customers saying the word download while meaning doing the installation.. Just wanted to be sure ;)
