Hi, I've got a pair of Alesis M1 actives that are probably 5 or 6 years old. Over time, the exposed woofers have collected a decent amount of dust on them. Is there a way to clean them or do I even need to? I'm just afraid to touch them with anything and I didnt know if it really mattered that the dust is there. Maybe I'm just not turning them up enough :lol: .

It's a good thing most people can't see the diaphragms on their large diaphragm condenser microphones. They get pretty disgusting since they are basically electrostatically charged dirt collectors. Nothing like taking off the Grill screen of a 20-year-old U87. Yeachhhhh! Now if you're thinking of cleaning your capsule's, a very small camel hair paint brush, as used on plastic model cars, and distilled water, is all that should be used. Otherwise, you'll clean off the extremely thin gold from the mylar diaphragm rendering your microphone useless. Has anybody cleaned their television screen lately?
