sorry, but i need an answer to a retarded question and I didn't think any one would read or respond to such a feeble plea for help. I dont know jack sh-t about logic platinum, but i have it. I just hooked up my Alesis qs8.1 via serial port using a roland driver(because Alesis won't support xp) and the sound is delayed like a half second! what do i need to do. also a brief sequencing overview in logic platinum would be a godsend. mabey i should just go work at mCDonalds...

Welcome to the logic-college, you sweet young thing!
Sorry, I can't figure out, what a qs8.1 is, MIDI-synth, or Audioworkstation? - please describe your setup.

...well and a "brief sequencing overview" is much of a guessing-game. Tell us, what you intend to do - than we certainly find a way to do it in logic.

After a long night of trial and error (mostly error), I have made some headway. Maybe I just needed to hear the question out loud. Here's my setup, which as it where seems to be more of a "setback".
Alesis qs8.1 Synth
Optiplex GX1 P3 450 (POS)
Logic platinum
What card and or interface would top the list of suggestions to intergrate with logic (for audio). I have narrowed my search and am considering the delta 66+omni I/O setup. Other threads in this forum have agreed this is a good value.
I will be doing mostly sequencing with the onboard sounds in the alesis and then overdubbing vocals with the occasional live guitar or percussion.
