Hi

I have searched the forum, but it didn't seem I found too many infos on this tweak everybody is raving about. I've already tweaked my system to some extent until now (and it's running great so far) but if some further infos are available to squeeze any drop of performance out of it I'd glady get them.

BTW my "Anus" goes something like this:

Asus A7M266 MOBO
AMD Athlon 1800 XP
512 Mb DDR ram
30Gb Maxtor 7200rpm HD (system Drive)
20, 30, 40 Gb 7200rpm Maxtor Audio drives (removable master/slaves on IDE 2)
Matrox G450 Millennium Dual Head Video card
Adaptec 2930 SCSI card
Yamaha SCSI CDRw (for low speed red book burning)
Waitec IDE CD-RW (for ultra fast backups) IDE 1 slave.
Digi 001 slot 3 IRQ 9 (forced in Bios) Pro Tools LE 5.1.1 and 5.3.1
Dual boot Win 98SE / Win XP Pro.

Thanx for your help

L.G.

Take heart and chin up Lorenzo. I too, purchased an Anthlon machine before I had heard of the ANUS configuration but I am very happy with it. It has worked perfectly with nary a hiccup with the "OPUS TWEAKS". You should be just fine. Next time around, now that I know where to find him I will consult Don OPUS prior to a purchase. But that should be at least another year of so in the future. My machine runs great! .... Fats

The reason that P4s are recommended is for a broad range of compatibility, and (arguably) for greater stability.
001 is known to work fine with Athlons and some of the Athlon's chipsets. However, most chipsets for Athlons wreak havoc on a lot of DAW hardware. The important thing is that it works for your needs.

Hi guys

Fats, thanx for the encouragment, my machine is serving me just right, and I plan on expanding it real soon (some bigger gigs on the horizon...); how's your dual 1800 going? my plan would be to go for a similar configuration as soon as PT 6 is out (it's supposed to support dual CPU), only with a dual 2400 or the likes, I think it would be power to spare :D !!

Son, I haven't tested my machine with other softs other than Pro Tools, (except for Sound Forge for 2 Track editing) so I cannot report on that, but It's been trouble-free (almost) from the day I put it together on my 001.

Cheers

Well, I admit it was a bit of research ahead, but I did my homework and spent quite sometime on the Compatibility page on the Digi's web site, and got lots of invaluable help from the cool guys on the User Conference on how to get it straight; once I worked out all of the chipset and motherboards issues and assembled the machine it worked full throttle (some IRQ tweaks helped to straighten out any possible conflicts, and as a matter of fact I never got any).
I'm just experiencing some minor flaws right now, but I'm suspecting a bad hard drive (it's a Seagate Barracuda 30Gb), that doesn't seem to be up to snuff performance-wise, as all of my other Maxtors never gave me this kind of trouble.

Should you need any infos on some tweaks for an AMD/001 machine just let me know.
