Hi guys,

i searched for a possible solution then figured it'd be better just to post.

I'm running a 17" powerbook with an MBox and a Lacie D2 extreme hdd and i'm just after any ideas to help optimise CPU power.

I'm Currently not doing too bad, i can run sessions with approx 20 tracks and close to 30 plugins running simultaneously, and its only ever held off 4 or 5 times in the month or so i have been using it.

I read somewhere, but i'm buggered if i can remember where is was - that there is a way of turning off shadows on OSX, which help the machine to run faster.

Any suggestions at all are much appreciated! thanks for putting together such an awesome resource.

There is not a lot of tweaking available or required for OSX.

For laptops, in the Powersaver preference, make sure sleep is never engaged, and CPU performance set to high.

Otherwise it's the app you are using, I have a 1GHz powerbook, and because of the "Freeze Function" in Logic7 I'm able to do sessions of 32-48 stereo tracks, using virtual instruments exclusively.

unfortunately PTLE doesn't have a feature that allows you to free up CPU.
