Hi, you may have seen me post in the Pro Audio Forum, but I'm back here.

Anyway, I'm trying to have a set-up to practice recording/mixing for as cheaply as possible and need some help on microphone suggestions. The tone I would like to eventually attain would be that punchy nu-metal, stoner rock, or blues like sound.

Here's what I have:

MOTU 896 + Digimax LT + Furman Power Condition + Patchbay + Rack = Just got this off of ebay for about 1400..

Mackie HR-824 Pair

Boston Acoustic PC system

Sure PE-56

What I will be getting:

UAD-1 Ultra Pack

4x SM57 = 370

3x E 604 mics - 300

1 x E602 mic - 200

AT4040 - 200

What I was considering:

ART MDM-8 Limiter (Insterting between Digimax and MOTU while tracking for hot levels and avoiding clipping)

Groove Tubes GT-57 - 419

Nady RSM-2 - 200

2x KEL HM-1 - 200

A Vocal Mic and Dum OH/Room mic would be helpful as well as any other suggestions.

You have 650 to work with...

I plan to spend an additional 1K on a room and the extranious (Cables, stands, etc), FYI

Anyone ever use a GT-57?

Thanks

- kelly
